From what I’m aware of in my state, the gun has to be unloaded and in it’s box.

put it in your trunk and don’t hide it. make sure it’s not loaded. if you bring ammo don’t put it in the same place as the weapon. don’t wear it concealed till you get where you’re going. you should be fine. if you get stopped and they want to look through your car just tell them your moving and where it is. if you have a permit i would have thought that
question would have come up in class.

I actually had this same situation come up for me and I called the DPS in several states to ask them and the simple answer I got from them was that you have to be in compliance with each state law of the states you are passing through. This is a pain in the neck but probably the best, though may not be legal in some of the states, would be to have it unloaded, in pieces if it can be taken apart, and locked up. That way if you are pulled over, tell the officer about the gun and he looks at it, the officer can weigh what he sees with your story and in most cases probably wouldnt care. I do say most cases so still be careful if you plan to cause like i said, I was told I’d have to comply with each state law i traveled through in order to do it “legally”.
